Our newest yarn is sure to be your main squeeze for fall! Knit and crochet warm and cozy projects in no time flat with our new bulky weight yarn, Big Squeeze.
This squishable new yarn is processed and spun in Italy from premium 21.5 micron New Zealand Merino wool. Needless to say, it is not only soft, but it has plenty of bounce and also takes dye beautifully. We’ve carefully designed this 3-ply yarn to have just the right amount of twist to prevent splitting while knitting, with the added benefit that it can survive being ripped back multiple times if your project happens to need some frogging along the way. For the perfect finishing touch, the yarn has been steam set to prevent it from twisting around or distorting your knitting the way some bulky yarns can do.
The gauge is quite flexible with this yarn: our test knitters founds that it worked up well on a wide range of needle sizes! While we recommend US 10 6.0mm needle to get the ‘standard’ gauge of 14sts/4 inches, we also tried sizes ranging from US 9 5.5mm (nice and snug!) to US 13 9mm (plenty of breathing room). The yarn will essentially adjust to fill the gaps, giving it a broad range of versatility for projects.
Big Squeeze is available in tone-on-tone and variegated colourways; each skein has 115m (127yd), which means you need just a few skeins to make some pretty fabulous projects! You can ask for it at your favourite Ancient Arts Yarn retailer or find it here on our website.
We’ll be introducing new designs featuring Big Squeeze yarn soon, but for now, we’d like to recommend giving Big Squeeze a try with any of these popular free patterns from Ravelry:
We look forward to seeing lots of projects knit up in Big Squeeze – feel free to share yours here in our Ravelry group!
