Instructor: Caroline Sommerfeld
Understanding fibre content, yarn structure, and how colour behaves with yarn can make or break your end result when creating a project, whether that project is knit, crocheted, or woven. In week one we will learn all about different fibre types including lots of fun fibre facts and how fibre types affect how a yarn is made. Week two we will explore how yarns are made while taking a deep dive into all sorts of yarn structures, and learning how yarn structure is very important to how a yarn will work up. You’ll be able to test knit lots of yarn structures as we explore structure. In the third week we will cover how hand dyed yarn is dyed and how each dye style behaves when knit or crocheted; plus how this affects the finished project. At the end of this class, you’ll have all the tools you need to choose just the right yarn, no matter what you plan to make!
