The Casual Friday Cowl features appliqued stitching and tack buttons reminiscent of traditional jean patterns, and creates a canvas that showcases gentle color shifts of kettle dyed yarn.
The scarf begins and ends with garter rib (a lovely reversible and non-stretchy form of ribbing), and continues with a body of textured stitch. I-cord is worked along each edge, and a short border of garter stitch on each side will create a home for the contrasting appliqued“stitching”. Once completed, the piece can be worn as a scarf, or buttoned and doubled as a cowl.
Worked flat, this scarf requires knitting knowledge including: cast on, knit/purl, i-cord edging, buttonholes, simple embroidery, and installing tack buttons, all on flat or circular needles.
