Colour of the Month Theme for 2025 - Creativity
December 2025 - All I want for Christmas is a Book Nook!
Our December Colour of the Month is inspired by the fun of Christmas and a new hobby! Recently we discovered that several of the staff of Ancient Arts have a delicious secret - a hobby that involves model making in the form of DIY miniature houses and book nooks. This hobby is a lot of fun and there are as many themes available these days in a book nook as one can imagine.
So what is a book nook? A book nook is a miniature diorama designed to sit between books on a shelf, creating the illusion of a tiny world or scene. These charming displays often feature intricate details, such as alleyways, stores, or fantasy realms, and can include elements like LED lighting to enhance the storytelling experience. Book nooks are popular for their whimsical aesthetic and can be themed around various literary inspirations, historical periods, or anything else the imagination can come up with!
The making of these models has become a world-wide passion and there are now many places one can buy kits for these models. One finds them online and in toy stores, and even in gaming stores these days, and they have become so popular they've even become the subject of studies investigating the health benefits of the hobby. Much like knitting and crochet, studies show these models are good for everything from mental health to dexterity and problem solving skills!
We all find them a lot of fun and we've been enabling each other with wish lists of the book nooks we would love to make. This list and some of the very pretty options we would like Santa to bring us, forms the inspiration for our December colourway!
