Step Up Your Sock Techniques Class

Class Type: Sock Heel Techniques - Oct 25 (10am-12pm)

8 items left

Instructor: Amanda Melnyk-Kromm

Want to step up your sock game and try out some new techniques? The following classes will focus on ways to make your socks your own and get that perfect fit. We've broken it up into 3 different classes, sign up for one or all three!

Sock Heel Techniques

Unsure about which heel to use for your sock? Or have you struggled with a heel in the past that never quite fit? Look no further - this class teaches you how to perfect heel flap and short row styles and customize them to fit your foot. Ideal for those new to sock knitting and seeking answers about sock construction and pattern modification.

Sock Toe Techniques
Getting a perfect fit for your handmade socks is always a goal, and being able to pick different toes for your cuff down socks is a great way to start! We'll go over some different options for different foot shapes as well as how to master that tricky grafting stitch at the end. Having a sock ready to finish is a great way to follow along as we go over different techniques, but is not required.

After-thought Heel Class
After-thought heels may not be for the faint of heart, but we'll happily walk you through the whole process, including picking up stitches and cutting your work with confidence. This is a great way to do a heel when you are using self striping yarn and don't want to mess up the stripe pattern, or just a fun technique to try.

Student must knit a 64 stitch round practice tube that is 4-5" long. This will be used to practice cutting into as well while you follow along.

NOTES:
- Since these are technique classes it is recommended to bring your own swatches for each class. A 64 stitch tube is recommended, or just have a sock that's at each step ready to go.

- A separate 64 stitch tube is recommended for the Afterthought Heel Portion as we will be cutting into it.

Class Dates:

Sock Heel Techniques - October 25, 10am-12pm
Sock Toe Techniques - November 1, 10am-12pm
After-thought Heel Class - November 8, 10am-12pm

Class Fee:$45 each or $130 for all three.

Class size:Minimum of 2 students, maximum of 8. Pre-registration is required.
