September 2023 - Colosseum at Dusk, Rome

Our September Colour of the Month takes it's colours from the Colosseum in Rome, and how beautiful it is at dusk, when the arches are lit by golden floodlights, and the amphitheatre glows against the darkening sky. There's even a touch of green for the lush grass.

The Colosseum in Rome is the iconic symbol of the Imperial Roman Empire. It is the largest ancient amphitheatre ever built, and is still the largest standing amphitheatre in the world! Construction on the Colosseum began in 72 AD and was completed just 8 years later in 80 AD. It was built in the centre of the city to place it both symbolically and precisely at the heart of Rome.

When you think of the Roman Colosseum, your first thoughts are probably of gladiator contests, but they were outlawed in 435 AD. Ancient Romans also used the Colosseum for many other types of spectacles including animal hunts (venatio), executions, re-enactments of famous battles, dramas based on Roman mythology, and for a brief time, mock sea battles (naumachia).

Working with Hand Dyed Yarn: While we strive for consistency, due to the hand dye process variations may exist between (and with some colourways within) dye lots. Therefore it is important to order sufficient yarn for your project, and if a uniform result is preferred we suggest alternating skeins. We hope that you will value and appreciate the beautiful and unique creations of the hand dye process and are always happy to assist you in working with hand dyed yarns!

We offer a 60-day return and exchange policy from the date of shipment. To be eligible for a return or exchange yarn must be in original condition with label intact and be scent and smoke-free. Please note that shipping fees are non-refundable. Refunds will be issued to the original payment method used for the purchase.
